LOOPING NIGHTMARE - SOMEBODY HELP !

I recently bought an MPC2000XL and i love it, but........ I have learned how to loop so that the sample plays for as long as you hold your finger on the pad which is a great feature, and i know when the sample is not looped that you press the pad and it plays until the end of the sample .

I really need to know how/if you can have the best of both worlds. Is it possible to be able to press the pad once so the sample plays and when you press the pad again it cuts the previous sample played and goes straight onto the next one you have pressed. In other words rather than pressing a pad once and the sample playing all the way through, you press the pad once and it will play UNTIL you hit another pad ?

I would just use the normal looping mode by holding my finger on the pad until it is time for the next sample to cut in BUT i find there will be tiny gaps between each sample this way.

Can anybody help ?

maybe experiment with the voice overlap in the 2kxl manual.

Maybe experiment with having a "no sound" pad to cuttoff the first sample.
You then let the loop come back around and hit the next sample.

Or you can set the first sample to trigger any other 2 samples from velocity (how hard you hit the pad). ie, you hit the pad soft and one sample triggers, hit it harder when the time comes and the next sample triggers. Drawback is, the samples will only playback like that at the velocities they were hit. If you change the velocity in step edit afterward, you'll mess up the whole velocity switching thing you set up in the first place.

I don't know that one. First place I'd look is the manuals to the other mpc's in question. Also the OS updates to see if it was later added on as a feature.

what i do somtimes is loop the sample to get the tempo, set my start and end points and chop it, then put the sample in mono so i can just hit it once instead of holding it for the length of the loop and lay the beat down like that...then pick your next chop and make that cut off the previous one as showing above ^^^^^^^ by lamp

If you either want or need real sampling abilities you should just get a sampler to go along with the MPC.

Also your problem isn't really a problem.
If you have the same sample on 3 different pads one set for Poly, one for MONO and one for NOTE OFF, and you have them linked to cutoff each other then you have all 3 modes at your disposal.
