Keyboard to mpc...

Ok, something wierd has happend...
I have a Roland D-20 Keyboard, and it used to work with the mpc... But today i turned on my mpc, and the notes i played on my keyboard showed up in the step edit, but without audio?! I have no idea what is wrong, as nothing has changed since i last used it...

Do you still get audio from the keyboard if you play it direct? If so, there's either a problem with the MIDI output of your MPC or the MIDI input of your keyboard. Make sure everything is set correctly in both machines. If those settings check out fine, try changing out the MIDI cable...heck, it might have even come loose or something...

Yeah The keyboard play the sounds fine by it self...
I doubt it's the midi cables, they are like one week old...
and I haven't touch anything since yesterday (when it worked)

Well u know MIDI only transfers DATA so no actual audio will be in the MPC.

Check your connections

MPC MIDI OUT to Keyboard MIDI IN
Keyboard MIDI OUT to MPC MIDI IN

Make sure the channel on your MPC corresponds with the channel u are using on the keyboard.

Examples

Bass-MIDI Channel2
MPC-MIDI 2A or 2B(depending on which midi port u used)

Make sure Local Controll is OFF on your keyboard.

Make sure all AUDIO Cables are plugged in correctly to your mixer.

Thats all i can think of.

The MPC recieves the note values from the keyboard, I can see them in step edit... They just don't play...
I'm very puzzled by this, because I haven't changed anything.

Please do not come in here trying to take over his thread. Your questions did get answered. He didnt nag the whole community for a problem he had. I told u if u learn how to type better then I will take the time to read it and help. I cant read something that hurts my eyes.

I appreciate the help guys, but it still doesen't work feel like I've tried everything, I must be missing something. I'm pretty sure the midi cable isn't broken, because the mpc recieves the notes...
I've also tried the B channel instead of A, same result...
And I've messed with the Midi Thru settings - without success.

My keyboard have no problems activating the drum program loaded on the mpc. (with sound).

wow...is it connected to a mixer? maybe the channel the keyboard is plugged into is down? but you said you havent changed anything, right?

Have you tried swapping the 2 midi cables yet? Do you still get the same behaviour then ? Perhaps the midi cable from the MPC out to the keyboard in is broken ? In your main screen you have the correct midi out selected in your track type ?

Well I assume my mixer isn't broken, because I can play the sounds from my keyboard with audio. It's only when i record it on the MPC that the audio disappears...

I've also tried swapping the two cables - no change.

Problem solved... I replaced both midi cables, and that worked...
Does anybody know how it was able to send the notes to my mpc when broken?
