zip drive installation - IDE cable too long!!!

Alright!

I'm installing a zip drive to get rid of the 'ol floppy. The problem is that the IDE cables I can get hold (40cm+) of are far too long to fit into the space available. THe old floppy had a nice short data cable that you could fit into the space.

Does anyone know where you can get a 40 pin IDE like this in the UK?

p.s My zip has 39 pins and the motherboard has 40 pins...does that mean that a 2 way 40 pin cable will do the trick?

Just fold it over a few times and wrap a cable tie around it - then tuck it into a spare bit of space. I don't think you'll find a shorter IDE cable, because anything less than 30 or 40cm would cause problems wih installing IDE devices in a PC.

I know this is old but where can a 39pin zip drive be bought from in the USA?

You can get those anywhere.
I assume you, like alot of people, are looking for a CF to replace the floppy drive in your 2000 classic.
Don't confuse 34 with 39.

Yeah i was thinking 39 instead of 34 but im putting a zip drive in my 2k shortly. My research is not yet complete but almost there.

My external works great for me, but good luck with that!

Yeah my SCSI works fine but Im puttin a zip drive in there. Trust me it may take some time but im getting there. And if i do get it in there oh i'll be posting pics.
