I noticed most you prefer original copies of records over reissues. I wasn't sure if this was because originals are worth more or because they sound better. I'm asking because I copped my first reissue and it just doesn't sound as good as my other vinyl. I want to know if this is a typical of resissues or just this one record.

e.d.e. I'm not exactly sure what you mean - i'm asking because if reissues as a whole sound worse then originals, then i won't buy anymore.

I'll buy both.

I've found that not all reissues sound alike, but I've never had the opp to compare an original to a reissue. One problem I've found around my way is that alot of them are warped, but for the spot I shop at they take returns for full cash or credit.

i buy both but yeah you can tell a difference in the quality of sound the reissue sounds a bit on the metalic or tink sound then an OG pressing, but it's not a reason not to buy it tho, i buy repress because sometimes you wont find an OG press and you have to buy it ,and nother is i play the both you just have to learn to eq when playin it out is all.

the choice is yours if you want to buy a repress really theres cats that dont and cats that will, i personally will i dont give a fuc, all i know is i have the record i want.

definitely feel you on that one e.d.e. i'm not saying that i would never buy a repress again but i'ma definitely try to get og's first from now on and then the ones that i absolutely can't find i'll cop the reissue if i have to. anyway thanks for your opinion

Man the re issuing business has (who ever is distributing them) has put a a MASSIVE collection within this last year to the stores around my area.. to be honest I've been buying them by the buttload cuz I simply have never seen or cannot find the originals.. naw im not tlaking bout some meters or JB reissue, but some of those rare... one album funk bands, etc that dissapeared off a tiny label... worth the $9 to me.

cosign that. The decision gets tricky though when you have to chose btwn spending $9 for a reissue or $20 for an original

reissues are nearly always recut / remastered, so they will nearly always sound slightly (or sometimes greatly) differant from the original pressing

ive heard reissues that sound better than the orig and some that are worse so it swings both ways...

yeah but this applys to the one that are reissued of todays music , mostly 90 till now
because most of the music back in the days was anolog and they have a hard time finding the reall instruments that was used back then,

and in my opinion theres no program that come close to an anolog sound!!!

OG over reish any day...but I found that some reissues are also real limited in pressing and eventually become valuable/wanted too, which is crazy. Thats probably whats gonna happen to that Verocai reish on Ubiqity which is now out of print.

Im not sure what you mean.... they would just get the master tapes and recut the record... sometimes the same cutting guy would do the job and refer back to the original settings on the log... sometimes a new guy would recut the record and remaster using his own settings...

I think maybe you are getting confused with what the industry calles 'digital remastering' where they more than usually crush the shit out of a perfectly good old skool recording just to make it as loud as possible on CD... is this what you meant???

hahahaha that funny .... not to many cuttin enigneers left in this business

i think your last quote there is where you are confusing your self that sounds like digital remasterin to me why would they mess with the original sound that wouldnt sound the same as the og then would it , the point to a repress or a reissue is to sound as close as possible to the OG dont you think?

what i am talkin about is that reissue today they take a lp from the earlie 90's and reissue it to two piece of vinyl to make it sound better and widen the grooves whiich would make it sound thicker in sound plus louder. right?
