I'm just trying to narrow down and see what may be causing them

I was thinking it may have something to do with sample based sequences

So for all the people who have had pops do you mostly sample?

and for all the people who have not had pops do you sample or do you use your machine for mostly midi production?

ONLY RESPOND IF YOU HAVE HAD YOUR MACHINE FOR MORE THAN A FEW WEEKS

most people dont have the pops at the beginning

PLEASE ONLY VOTE IN THE POLL IF YOU HAVE HAD POPS

and identify you style of creation[/b]

if I remember correctly u stated in another thread that you havent had your 2500 that long and havent really got into it

most people who've had pops didnt have them at first then started getting them weeks after having their machine

someone should isolate the pop, see if it's coming from the main output or (REALLY unlikely) the midi outs.

yeah its coming from the main outs

as I stated in another thread it sounds like the metronome firing off

PLEASE EVERYONE DONT FORGET TO VOTE IN THE POLL

I've done that also, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt,

aside from solving the problem I just wanna get a picture of what the source may be

From what I can tell so far:

Its probably the DAC being exposed to static electricity from an ungrounded usb connection. the pops happen everywhere - mains, individual outs, and digital outs - until the usb cable is unplugged.

not every computer does this, which would explain why not everyone hears it. my friend's mac doesnt do it, my dell does.

pops happen with a frequency of about 2-3 pops every 5 minutes.

the pop is a -20 spike, about 30 samples in length. It does indeed sound like a metronome tick, but thats not what it is.

I'm going to try a new usb cable, or maybe a pci usb card. in the meantime, I just unplug the usb cable when I'm recording.

I had no MIDI connections when I had them, only samples playing.

The USB explanation xparis proposed sounds very reasonable, although I couldn't yet reproduce it so far.

Stilo.
