Utilizing my digital outs.....

What up Fam.....my question is as follows.....Ok for the most part if have always been an analog guy by means of recording that is....So yesterday i was like phuck it, let me try my digi outs. So since the digi outs look like rca outputs, i, decided to use rca plugs to a 1/8" stereo plug to plug into my soundcard on my computer. The problem is this. When i have it hooked up this way i get an awful noise, alomost like when you purge sounds when a loop is still playing back. Any ideas anyone on how to solve this?...By the way i spank on the classic and i use a soundblaster 24 bit live soundcard........... Sticman Tha P

Could be your soundcard cause Soundblasters are for more for gaming than actual audio recording. But um I never really messed with the DIGITAL on the MPC so im not much of help on that. But I still think your connection and sound card are playing a role to that noise.

Yeah ive never really been a digital person either....most of the time, the sound is to"sterile", so to say....A girl into the mp like this..?.....are you some type of goddess?....good lookin on the reply.....much appreciated

that's because you used the wrong cable. it might look like an rca, but it's not. Get a digital cable (HOAX).

RCA cables are analog cables. Get a coaxial (digital) cable as YoungKay said and you will ALSO need a sound sound that has a digital input as well. HTH!!!

They run about $8-$11 buck depending on the length. (Go here:http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/General/Accessories/Cables?sku=333006). Yes the inputs and output jacks look similiar to the rca cable jacks. Good luck dude!!!

Rush good lookin on the feedback homie....and the link...can you also recommend a decent sound card to put to use?....ive always been into hardware recording until recently...so my knowledge of computer recording is scarce....thanks.......(P passes his spliff to Rush..)

there's a ton of them. What's your price range? how many inputs/channels will you be recording simultaneously? Maybe an answer to those questions might give folks an idea to suggest you.

YoungKay what up homie?........I dont wanna spend no more then 3 faces...and i just wanna record digitally from my mp to computer...i only need 1 input for digi on the card....good lookin K

yup. I was gonna suggest the same thing - M-Audio Firewire 410. I have one myself and it's working very well as far as I can tell.

I'm also planning to pick up the Motu 828kII so that I can use the 8 outs on my MPC at the same time. :lol: but in your case, the Firewire 410 should be just fine.

I use Monster RCA's to go from Digital out on the MPC 2KXL, to Digital in on My Digi 002.
It works just fine, I don't use it that much.
I sometimes use it to sample from My DVD/CD player, or from my Denon CD turntable.
The Jack looks like RCA, but it is usually Orange instead of Red or White.

That's because you used a digital out to an analog in.

Just because some connectors fit doesn't mean they always go together.
