I want to list some things id like to see in a OS update.

First, Fix all the bugs........... Id rather have no other features so long as the current ones worked 100%

so far the bugs ive experienced are:

when you go into grid edit on an unused track and record an event, when you exit grid mode, the track is still recognized as unused. Therefore the track is not recognized in the mute page as a track that can be muted.

Tap Tempo not working the sametime as a pad is struck

Occasional sample drop outs, especially when you go from main windo into record mode.

Mute page mutes dont register when you exit the mute page.

More Features:

Id like to see Multisampling or autochromatic. Perhaps a substitution of the 16 levels tuning responding to a midi keyboard :)

Id like to see shift notes back into quantize window. That was nice cause the note repeat responded to it.

Also, the T.C. soft button. Id like to see the quantize setting replace "T.C." Like if quantize is set to OFF, the soft key should say T.C. but if its on 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, 1/8(3), 1/16 (3) the T.C. soft key should say whatever it is set to. For example, if I have quantize set to 1/8 the soft key would say 1/8, if i turned it off, it would go back to T.C.

This would be help full cause sometimes i forget its set, and start recording, i end up having to earse and record again.

Co-sign. I would mos def want this function brought back!

However...the biggest problem/bug (IMHO) is the fact that this new OS limits the range of MIDI notes that can record/playback correctly. This needs to be fixed immediately.

1. This function works fine with my 2500.

2. At first try, it seemed to not work. But when I tried again, there was no problem. I turned off my MPC and tried again...and I didn't have any problems with my MPC.

It is starting to feel like I am in another dimension where I am the only person in the world with a 2500 that works :?

Cyrus...what kind of memory and hard drive are you using?

Nope, mine works fine. I did notice a few pops in the past but nothing here lately. Also, I haven't used grid edit enough to have had experienced the same probs some of you have but it doesn't bother me since I rarely use it. I'm sure AKAI will in the future fix all bugs and have this thing running at 99.9% soon. Once this happens, there will be nothing on the market to compete with the 2500.

hhhmmm.

Im starting to think something happened with the 1.1 os i installed.

Im gonna reformat my cf card and redownload the os update.

Im using a sandisk cf card and i havent installed any harddrive, cdrw, or more memory (although i will soon).

However, I did buy this mpc as an "open box" so maybe some one else messed with it? i Doubt it, but you never know..........

I dont like posting all these glichy things, because I dont want to be annoying, Id rather be making beats...........but seriously, I have had these things happen more than once, so i know im not nuts!

Posting 'glitchy things' can help confirm you are nuts or if there is a problem with your MPC.

As I stated before, I don't have the problems with the mutes either. And on my MPC all samples mute in general when I enter the Record Mode. That's why I think it's just how it's supposed to be. Maybe your problem is only because of the "Immediate Mute/Stop of one-shot samples" function or the Continuous sample track function which prevents some samples to stop like they should.

For recording while playing sequences there's only the Direct Recording mode I think.

Jesus is this the Expert member post or something?

Um, I hate to say this, but haven't we had a thread started about bugs and whatnot b4? Ahem, c'mon them - lets have ya. <Backs away to the door slowly>

Can one of you Mods please start a Bug Fix thread which is posted as a sticky so that we can consolidate all the problems in one, easy-to-find post?
And for that matter maybe a separate Feature REquest sticky as well.

How do you think Akai work? Do you think they look at the this forum and then add the features / fix the bugs? Because it'd be a lot quicker if we didn't keep coming up with new ideas wouldn't it?

That may be a good idea. However, every other day, somebody claims there is a bug (never post/explain how they produced the bugs), only to find out it was user error...or isolated to their MPC only (which I still suspect user error). Yes...I do think that would be a good idea. But I don't think any of the moderators use MPC 2500s (or care that much about them). Sparq is the closest one...but he uses the MPC 1000 yet secretly wants the 2500.

hmm tru. but the user errors would be quickly be identified as user errors by the expert members!! ;-)

Thats a bit a bugger about the mods. I vote u.

why are you soo bothered by this? And i bet you akai does come on these threads and reads them.......not saying that they fix and do everything we post. But if no one said any thing, nothing would get fixed!

id say there are a large chunk of people on here that review peoples posts before they decide on a mpc or some other equipment. If akai wants to keep business, they should fix the bugs as to eliminate the chances of someone not choose the mpc because of bad reviews.

Soz, why am I so bothered about what?

The sticky thing, because then we have a comprehesive list of what is a bug and what is finger trouble / user error.

Or how I think Akai work?
Its just that if we keep discovering problems, won't Akai postpone the update until all the problems are fixed and features are added? Thats all I meant by that. I'd rather them fix all the bugs, get that OS release out double quick and then do another OS update in the future with features included in that one.
It just seems ages since these 'wrong file' errors and PGM files being lost have been noted. Akai are aware of them, but nothing has happened from them yet.

I guess I just gutted that I blew a grand (first bit of brand new kit I ever brought!! typical) on this thing and it can't even maintain its own files on the disk.

You're contradicting yourself. If you want Akai to fix all bugs, then why stop posting possible ones on here? You prefer a quick update over a thorough one, then that's ok.

You can be sure that Akai will know what to fix, and when to release an update with exactly what new features and bugfixes included - if they read this forum or not. Trust them, it's not some backyard business they're running there.

Peace,
Stilo.
