relse the pad to stop a sample

how do i...
when i loaded my sample to a pad, can i hold the pad to play the sample then when i relse the pad it stops with out it playing all the way through, if you get me.
so when i relse the pad the sample stopes. instead of just hitting it once to play all the way thru.
ona MPC2000xl

change the pad to from Poly to NoteOff
