Yeah, I'll probably cop one. All that technical mumbo-jumbo means nothing to me. Once I come across some one who has one, I'll mess around with it and cop one if Im feeling it.

the sequencer is boo boo compared to the mp but you dont buy ensoniq gear for sequencing its all about the sampler!!!!!!!!!

Transwaves are super dope when you do them right.
No one I know uses them. I use to use them all the time.

It's a slept on feature.
Bi-directional looping feature
bow-tie crossfade feature
disc tracks
ramtracks
line in, while playing.
internally record main out and place it on any key.
scsi import roland and akai s sereis samples I forgot
what series of roland though.

Alot of other stuff that the 2kxl can't do.

i'm thinking of buying an asr-10 without scsi-port... is that not recommendable? do I really need a hard drive or something of the sort.. it has 16 mb ram and i'm going to use it to complement my mpc1000.. I'm using the asr-10 for the sound and filters and so on...

I definitely advise getting the SCSI, if for nothing else, it can be a nice backup in case your floppy goes bad. Having the SCSI interface opens up a decent amount of options, however, ie. CD-ROM, ZIP drive, CF readers, etc.

An asr10 with any mpc is a good combo, to me that is.

....to many other people also. You get it if it fits your needs..

The ASR's sound gives it the ability to find its place in the mix. The FX are mad.

It is a stange beast sound wise. It is Lo-Fi while at the same time has the a certain clarity that is difficult to define. One thing not ofen metioned is that its semi-weighted keys are excellent.

I got mine at a decent price and it is worth it even as a midi controller but add the sampler and you got a definite classic.

hmm.. I was thinking I'd just sample the sounds through the asr-10 and not actually have to save that much on it..

is it possible to install the port on a unit that doesn't have it from beforehand?

Fuh sho..., but they can be a little pricey. Check eBay first (of course), then try craigslist.org. If nothin turns up, you can try http://www.thesoniq.com
