OK I've been sampling stuff for over a year now and it's time i asked this question. Why is my Vestax pro mixer so low in volume. I'm running my turntable into it and whenever I play through it the audio on the meter is low so I have to turn up the fader almost full to get a decent reading. I have the gain at 12 o'clock and the turntables are grounded. I only control audio through my mixer so I only control the volume from the highest points on my fader. Shouldn't I be able to run audio from my turntable and have the fader say halfway up and have the volume meter reaching half way up. **** hard to explain this shit but much appreciation for help.

make sure your turntable is connected to the PHONO INPUT and not the LINE INPUT.

yeah it's definately connected via phono so thats not the problem. Maybe it has something to do with the pre-amp or something??? The audio is fine but thats when it's almost up full, then when I slightly bring it up full it's way too hot.

Did u check the Output Volume Setup of the MPC yet? I dont mean the Volume knob! Go PROGRAMM -> OTHER and ther u can somewhere chose the MASTER Out gain from -24dB or so to 0 dB...

yeah I know about the MPC's master level. When I sample it sounds ok but I mean just for when I'm playing records off my turntables the fader seems unbalanced. I turn up the MPC master level and the samples are fine, I just want to know if my mixer is supposed to be like that. What is it like for you guys say when you have your fader up at half or slightly over? is it still reading one the meter or do you have to crank it as well to get a good reading? Thanks for the suggestions though, appreciated
