Dunno about warranty problems, if it had to go back just pop the RAM back out.

I got the Akai ram for mine, got a good deal on it used. but if i didn't i'd probably ahve gone 3rd party. Shame we can't for the cd drive too, that really is a rip off

But I take it that you knew all of this before you spent 1 months rent on the 2500 ???

The cd drive wasn't released in the UK when i bought mine. It's not a major issue though, the cd drive is more of a luxury than a necessity as far as i can see.

Got the ram and hdd in, that's the most important at the moment. Will get the cd drive eventually but i'm after a mixer first.

How do you find those 02Rs? I've been looking at them used, got for about £650 and seem like a lot of mixer for the money.

Have they got transport controls and multi track recording?

I pick up the O2Rs in Japan awhile back. They have MIDI Machine Control menu where you can trigger a connected MIDI device's transport controls...but doesn't have dedicate hardware transport controls itself. The newer 02R96s have hardware transport control functions.

In the USA, used 02Rs run at least $1200. They are great especially for the prices today. They do not record. They are 8 Buss mixers and can route the first 16 channels to their own direct outputs. I have the ADAT expansion cards installed so I can track up to 24 channels of audio into my DAW simultaneously.

ohh I bought it with my tax return...

about the ram, well to be honest I don't mind spending the 150 on akai ram... that much, I have the dough. Buuut I was thinking about getting the CD-R, harddrive and ram for less than 200 and installing it on new 2500's that I bought for 1,600... thus making it 1,800 and selling them for 2,100 or so....

but it seems like it's not possible specially due to the cd-r... oh well.

thought it would be a quick 200 bucks on each MPC but that's not the case.
back to the drawing board.

You wouldn't sell one unit...especially when authorized dealers are selling them maxed out 2500s for less than $2100....
