Keyboard "local off"

I have a issue hookin up my Yamaha DJX Keyboard Midi to my MPC 1000 I get the whole Midi thing....but there is nothing on my cheap a$$ Keyboard sayin "Local Off" just wondering if there is a different route, or if someone has the same keyboard hooked up Midi to the MPC 1000 thanks

turn the volum down on the keyboard or dont hook up the audio outs? as long as the midi signal is running into the mpc, it should work.

R u wanting to use it as a MIDI Controller or actually use the onboard sounds?
