loading!sounds&wave files in my mpc 2000 with cd/or zipdisk?

does anybody out there that uses the mpc 2000 know how excatly!! how to load in wave files with the cd rom??? with or without using a external cdrom drive? because i have a plextor 20X cdrom drive that i have set on SCSI ID 5 and the mpc regonize's it but im still not hearing the sample/loops threw my mpc 2000 & im having the same problem using the external 100mb zipdrive too'' can anybody that uses the regular mpc 2000 give me any suggestions?? because i can't talk to akai support because when i come home from work at 6:30pm during the week & akai's technical support team is not available to help me out because they all come home at 6:30pm ya feel me? anyway any help will be appreciated!! marc ny

descartes! i have the epson/iomega external scsi 100mb zipdrive & the regurlar mpc 2000 studio not the XL version and i have the plextor 20x cdrom drive too and the scsi ID on the zipdrive is set to 5 and the termination is ON and the scsi ID on the plextor cdrom drive is set to 5 and i had brought two cd roms from ebay that are suposed to be in wave file formatt but everytime i try to load one of them in the mpc says???????? but it does recgonize both the cdrom drive and the zipdrive & im having the same excat problem loading in a 100mb zipdisk that suposed to have sounds on it too'' & i know that my zip drive is working!!! because i had loaded the mpc OS on the zipdrive from the floppy drive & my zipdrive has no clicking either ya feel me? so i dont!!! know whats wrong why i can't load in my cd roms or the one zipdisk that i have that has sounds on it & i dont get home until 6:30pm from work during the week & it sucks!!! because akai's technical support team leaves at 6:30pm so im kind of pissed about that because if i was home before 6:pm i could call them and then they can tell me excatly!! what the problem is then help me correct it ya feel me?? anyway you was saying that the mpc 2000 doesn't read wave files if its not formatted for the mpc 2000 right cartes? anyway if you or anybody out that that has a mpc 2000(not the xl)& a 100mb zipdrive please..... respond and let me know excatly!!!! how do you have your zipdrive scsi ID set & your cdrom scsi id set?? & let me know excatly!!! how are you loading in your cd roms? & a zipdisk with sounds on it ok??? thanks!!!!! marc ny [email protected]

okay... cd-rom is another issue. so first lets get the zip sorted.

but yourself a fresh zip... one that is blank (ibm or mac formated, its all the same for this test).

so... zip plugged in. scsi terminated (if the zip don't do this automatically you may have to buy a "physical" termination plug). zip turned to scsi id 5.

load up the mpc os from your floppy (make sure its ver 1.72). go to the disk screen (shift + 3). Right now it should read "Device: Floppy." arrow down so floppy is highlighted. turn the jog wheel untill it reads "Device: SCSI-5." At this point your zip should spring to life.

though, since the disk isnt formatted, it should read "type=?????" Now hit format (f3). it'll ask you if your sure. say yes. now your disk is formatted. (it should read "TYPE=MPC."

if you got this far, then the problem might be with the zip disk you are trying to load sounds off of (not your mpc or your zip). If you cant get this far, however, then one or the other might have a problem.

the next step is to save sounds (and the OS) on this new disk you just formated (any sound you like). turn off the mpc and see if you can reload them. if you can, then its definitly the zip disk thats messed up.
