Alright, I took the MPC1000 apart to look inside. When Akai said "Laptop Size"...they meant it. The RAM is a type of laptop memory. And, while inside, I found a slot & connector for...a HARD DRIVE (also laptop sized). It resembles a D-style connector, about 1.5 inches x 1/4 inch, 50-pins, similar to "slimline" cd connectors, but not quite. Probably Akai has a "special adaptor" for this expansion later to normal ATA laptop drives. I say this because the cable running off the main PC board is on the same bus as the CF card...which have ATA interfaces. Physically not like SCSI at all.

Also, it has
SH-3/DSP as (main processor)
1 AMD FLASH AM29LV641DL-90REI (presumably for program & internal sounds)
2 Hynix SDRAM HY57V641620HG

Also, EXP ram is definitely 144pin. Will put up pix soon.[/img]

Didn't someone post this a month ago? (sorry, not intending to burst your bubble).

And someone already posted pics. I found them use the search.

Man, I searched with every thing I could think of.. pictures inside internal hard drive disk..with and without AND/OR...nothing shows...didn't find anything on google either.
Anyway, since the CF are so fast & cheap (unless I can drop in a 40G drive for $100), not much sense in it anyway.
