Choppin stereo samples

Didnt find any topic about this. Here's my prob: when I chop my samples that are sampled in stereo, MPC changes em in mono after choppin. Is there any way to chop stereo samples? I've chopped the samples in my comp now and then loaded em into MPC, but if there's a way to chop em in MPC, lemme know.

ChopShop function
The ChopShop function will allow you to divide a phrase sample
into several regions. The MPC2500 has two different ways to use
the ChopShop function. “Auto” which divides a sample into several
regions, automatically detecting the attack part of the phrase
in the sample. And, “EQUALLY” which divides a sample to several
regions of equal length.

SLICED SAMPLE and PATCHED PHRASE
The divided sample, whether “AUTO” or “EQUALLY”, can be used the
following two ways. “SLICED SAMPLES” will assign each divided region
to a pad. “PATCHED PHRASE” is one sample which has the divided
regions and the sequence data for playing the divided regions. You can
change the tempo freely when playing the sequence.

Note : You cannot use the ChopShop function on a stereo sample.
If you use a stereo sample, only the left channel is used.

the alternative would be to copy the sample however many times and trim your chops manually

that way they can remain in stereo if thats what u want

The only way to keep the sample in stereo is to use the Extract feature... Not as easy as in Chop Shop, but ok with shorter samples. I use Propellerheads ReCycle for long samples.

did the XL's "zone" feature convert stereo samples to mono as well?

thats one way not the only way

Thats wack! why would they not allow you to use the chop shop on stereo samples? Thats gotta be something they gonna need to fix.

maybe because some records from back in the day have different sounds that may be prominent in one side and not in the other

therefore there are some stereo samples that have different shaped wave forms on the left and right

I guess they could make it read and chop from the left or right and just chop the stereo sample that way
