Little warning for all of you looking to purchase zip drives for your mpc/pc. The only safe drives to get are self powered and internal. I own two zip drives (250scsi and 100usb) and both power suppies shorted out on me in just over a year.

Worst of all, they are just out of warrenty and now I'm stuck with two drives I paid extra for and can no longer use.

I don't think it's possible to use any other power supply other than the iomega one because no universal adapter fits the correct voltage (if anyone has experiance with this please let me know). I am extremly disappointed and would have gotten an internal if I had known that the adapters included with the external drives were so cheaply made.

Also ware and tear on the SCSI input from disconnecting and re-connecting external gear, over time, will damage your mpc.

You've been warned.

Hi N8!

I use a 250Mo too, and power's supplie "burn" after one year too...
I don't know what voltage you use (I think 120 VAC) but now I'm using a common supplie. 250 haffi work in 5 volt n yes the universal one's usely don't fits... Anyways I even try the 4.5 and it didn't works... And just wann let you know, it works for me in 6 volts.

Big up! & cares .

I've had my 250 for about a year and I haven't experienced any power supply problems.

"I don't think it's possible to use any other power supply other than the iomega one "

Sure there is. Well you can buy the official Iomega replacement for $25, or just search any major electronics supplier for a 5VDC regulated power supply for <$10.
