Hello,

I'm using MC909 groovebox and remote controller and PC with soft. I have also MC909 but i'm not using it since getting MC909.
I've heard that mpc series blow mind because o the feeling, quality and warmness.

I though to buy an mpd16 but i they i also find out mpc1000 model. I wonder if it is worth to investin 4 times more money for mpc1000. maybe mpd16 can do the same things using battery or any other software.
Pls advise.

maybe you use mpd16 with some software.

I wonder also if the "Note repeate" function in MPC1000 is similar to Arpeggiator feature in my MC grooveboxes ? Do you know ?

maybe if i can conect mpd16 to MC groovebox and then to PC/battery I can also effect with unique swing from which akai is famous.

Pls help me, any info will be very apreciated. I don;t have any ability to test is. I really want to go for one whoch will be effective enough.

thanks
best regards
peter

first sort that out...lol...nah 'C'eriously.

anyways, the MPC 1000 has a very nice feel for Hip Hop and other Urban types of music production.

the MPD could be an option, as it is good and can work very well as a combo with computer setup like battery.

however its down to 2 main things.

1) your budget - paying 4 times more as you say...is this something you want to do or not.

2) do you love computers for making music or would you prefer using hardware (mpc1000) and just the computer for editing your tracks and samples.

answer these 2 questions and make your decision.

as i say both the MPC 1000 and the MPD 16 are excellent products...

but 2 different prices, ones a sampler based drum machine and the other (mpc 16) is just a sample triggering controller with the mpc's pad feel.

I did not understand anything :) but I will assume you got one MC909.

If you buy the mpd16 you will just have the pads, but what differentietes MPCs from the others, are not only the pads. First thing that you should admire in MPC1000 is the tight sequencer.
So, it is really a question of money. If you can afford MPC1000, I strongly recommend it. If you don't, then I don't know what you shold do, but just the pads will not give you the same result as an MPC.

I wonder also if the "Note repeate" function in MPC1000 is similar to Arpeggiator feature in my MC grooveboxes ? Do you know ?

From what i remember when playing a bit with the Apreggiator, it repetes randomly. Note repeate repeates regularly.

I would doubt it. You might get close, but it will never have the feeling of an MPC.

if you cannot afford the mpc 1000, or if you dont want ot spend your hard earned cash on one, then the MPD 16 will be great anyway.

i have used the mpd 16 with Exs24 and it works great...the same will go to Battery.

As 'Effekt' states above that the MPD pads dont give the same result as the mpc...however i don't agree.

the Pads will allow you to make grooves like never before (if you were using keyboards before). they still allow you to come up with nice grooves and patterns and shall also enhance your drum skills.

as for the 'Swing'...

nothing states that the mpc has the best swing...coz it doesn't. it just has a swing feature that almost all drum / sequencers have, but for some reason people like the mpc swing.

however you may not.

so if you happy with a computer based setup, then don't waste your money on something you can do with what you have with the aid of the mpd 16.

thanks for all the opinion, really helpfull

as i understand it is hard to gain the same effect on the mpd16 and PC than only with MPC1000 itself.

So far i have been using MC909 and MC505 and maily doing on it without the computer but i can see some nice features on the PC.

I don't understand "thight sequencer". What is the ifference between Groovebox sequncer. For the arpegiator, it is posso9ble that it play not only randomly but also in the regular basis.

I've read the manual of the MPC1000 and i wasn't really surprised since many features if not more i have on the MC909. Probably the way how the music is creating is somehow very unique and it is enough to touch the pads and you have the rhytm, base and the melody.

maybe somebody used groovebox and akai MPC sruff and can compare the differences and style of working since it is very hard for me to imagine the differences. Ofcourse the pads section is obvious difference.

thanks

if you have the mc 909 you don't need an MPC. One can argue which is better, but they both fill similar roles.

do you have any experience on that?

what about the quality and ease of createing music ?

i have the mpc 1000 and i love it
i have played with the mc 909 in the GC.
i think if you have an mc 909 you don't need the mpc.
that would be overkill.
just get an mpd.

PEACE

I prefer the mpc, but the 909 is a good machine too.

ok. thakns guys.

I thinbk i'll go for mpd.

Anyway I'm still wondering what does it mean tight seqwunecer in the MPC?

An what is the rreason people like this machine over the other manufacturers - is a easiest, more natural and intuitive music creation (rhtymh creating) ?

tight sequencer - means its real good

reason people like this machine over any others - because the biggest name producers use them.

And it lets you create music in no time at all, and it makes it more fun than many other options.

Bysapi Mon Jan 26, 2004 4:29 pm
okay, clear.

but with only mpd16 and battery i should do the same things or not - means creating in almost no time
Is mpd16 and MC909 the same togewther like mpc100 itself?

with MC909 you can also do something in a very short time - i think that it is the main attitude of all groveboxes, the difference that in mpc1000 you have to load samples and in MC909 you can do this as well and also use the internal sounds

i'm wondering if it possible to create a melody lines using mpc1000/mpd16
means is it good for it or better is for rhytm and things like this

assuming, is it any sense to choose mpd16 or better wait a little and go for a full version of mpc1000 - i don't have till now any strong arguments

everybody says that mpc is a great instrument and enough to create the whole music but are there any things besides mpc pads that can strongly compete with other machine /grooveboxes ?
