tracking in pro tools

My home boy has a MPC 4000, triton and motif ES (with AIEB2 card installed). He already knows how to track his beats that have just sample in them, but doesn't know how to track his beats that he made midi tracks with using his keyboard? How do you do this, how do you track whole beats(or songs as they call it on the MPC) onto pro tools using all your equipment at the same time. I know he can't track everything at once at his house because the digi002 only has 4 inputs, but how would he track his individual sounds from each instrument but still be in sync with the MPC?

Keep all of your equipment running to a mixer, and run the mixer to the 002......(Even though the 002 is a mixer), but that'll give you some more inputs.....

What wires do I use to connect my mixer to the digi 002. And also will all my tracks be on individual channels once recorded into protools?

Don't quote me on this, because i'm not 100% sure, but I believe that the 002 takes regular 1/4' wires.... in that case, if your mixer has 1/4' wires, then get a 1/4' to 1/4' cable..... And from my understanding, i BELIEVE that on Pro Tools you can set your individual channels from the mixer.... Maybe someone else could explain it better, because I dont' wanna tell you something and be wrong

If ya'll got some chips to spend I'd get the adat expansion for the 4000 and you can run 8 tracks into the 002 via lightpipe leaving the 8 analog inputs on the 002 free for your synths. The 002 has 18 inputs, 8 adat, 8 analog and stereo s/pdif, it's capable of recording all 18 inputs simultaneously.

if your mpc's the main sequencer run midi out of your oo2 into your mpc go to your sync mode to recieve midi clock make sure your midi recieve is on also inside of pro tools you have to set your midi setting to transmitt from the out put than everything should sync up

I got 002 Rack. Digi recommends using balanced TRS cables for a quiter signal. I sneak by with using regular 1/4 but if you can spend the extra dough get balanced TRS (Tip, Ring, Sleeve) cables. If you put a mixer btwn digi and your gear your introducing more signal to noise ratio, but that may not matter if it may be the color/sound your going for? I just end up going direct.

I normally end up tracking into PT two (stereo) or one (mono) track at a time so I can screw around in PT in a track per track time, get some seperation. Bass kick on one, hi-hats two, snare three, synth on 4...etc endless. The reason is having lots of ins/outs is if you have a chance to record a real drum kit or a band that HAVE to play at the same time means you HAVE to record at the same time. When your using electronic gear though you can split the tracks up.

oh yeah...and this will help you with the Midi aspect with Pro Tools and the MPC.
