Can anybody tell me exacly where the flash rom is in the mpc2000xl? I recently had a O.S. problem and now I half to install the 1.2 every time I turn the mpc on. I heard the internal flah rom is where it is saved if I did'nt half to load it before why would I now? Does this mean my flash rom is bad or can I reset or reinsert it. worst case senario I will just put it on my cf or smart media cards because i dont see paying 300 or more for a flash rom.

The Flash Rom OPTION has been discontinued and unless you already bought one, then you do not have one.....

You guys are talking about 2 different things. The original poster is talking about the Flash ROM which stores the OS, and the other guy is talking about the Flash RAM which is an option that expands the regular RAM, and can store sounds, programs, and sequences INSIDE the MPC even when turned off!

To the Original poster:

If your Flash ROM is busted I have no clue where to get that fixed at! You may want to do some searching on this site, and maybe even:

www.midi-case.com

Good Luck!

Their is no Flash Ram! R.A.M = random access memory. That is only temporary memory so, if you turn off the MPC you lose the memory! Rom = Read-only memory hence you can permanently save to it. Very big difference! This thinks he has Flash rom but does not as far as I can tell....
