Madness wrote:Don't ever Dis the M-Audio soundcards they are one of the most compatible around. I have a Delta 66 and it works fine. Here is my list of things I must do to get a rock solid recording PC with my DELTA.
1. Increase the Latency settings on the Delta Control pannel if you are getting clicks and pops this is the first thing to try. Make sure your Recording app is set to use the M-Audio ASIO
2. Make sure the Delta is not sharing an IRQ in controll panel with any other device, USB , VIDIO card. IT MUST BE ON ITS OWN IRQ!!!
3. When you install XP use STANDARD PC mode. It doesn't share IRQ's and is the known way to avoid Sound Card problems in XP. This is the most important thing for a hassle free music PC. some time you may not need to do it if the above works but I do it anyway and eliminates many hassles.
4. Experiment with drivers! I don't use the latest drivers just because they are there. I had crackly problems and rolled backward to a driver that worked best for me and experimented with Increasing Latency. I am using the 5.10.25 driver even though 5.10.29 is the latest. I Find that the 5.12 drivers worked best for me for quite some time! Then, when I reinstalled XP 12mths later I ended up on the Newer driver because the old one was creating issues. in CUBASE SX !!
I emphasise "STANDARD PC" mode. You can change it from within control pannel by expanding the PC device it will say "ACPI" mode and update the driver from the XP cd and change it to "STANDARD PC" and reboot. This will ensure your DELTA will be on its own IRQ!!! Also, set your IRQ's from within your BIOS and change your bios mode to NO PLUG AND PLAY OS even though XP is plug and play this will control your IRQ's from the BIOS which is more effective I find.
