Just a short question, for people who record on computer their mpc tracks.

Do you go straight from the mpc out to sound card in, or do you first go thru a preamp or dj mixer?

Is their any difference for the sound?

I go straight from my MPC into my M Audio Quattro sound card. The sound is average. I just start adding plug ins to give it some feel. Thats part of the benefit of having DAW's, you could sometimes make up for lack of processing equipment with plug ins.
If I had the option, I would definately cop an Avalon or Focusrite Processor/Mic Pre. They add so much flava to your sounds. But for now I do it economical way.

I run all my gear into a mixer then into my soundcard. it just gives me the simplicity of having all my gear hooked up and easy to control and 1nce, but I am a dj, so I hate having to unplug and plug when I wanna mix or cut not make a beat so I just run it all into a mixer and thats that, either way seems like it makes no diff, I cant even tell which songs I made with the mixer and which were just right into the soundcard.[/color]

Sometimes it can matter sometimes it doesn't.  If you wanna pre -eq your sounds before they go into the cpu then a mixer would be ideal, but if your just tracking your sounds into the cpu then a mixer woudn't be necesssary.  Although It seems I get a better output level if I put it through my mackie mixer, but you can always change the settings for more gain in your cpu.
