MPEG-3 and .MSV codecs acceptable to MPC1K ?

*** Hello to the group, and sorry, but my multiple archive searches did not turn up anything helpful.

My MPC1K will not recognize/load .WAV files that are "coded" as MPEG-3 ... seems it only wants PCM files. Am I correct?

Also, I have a SONY ICD-MX20 digital stereo voice recorder (w/software) that I use to acquire samples in the field. Every sound captured by this device is stored as a .MSV file (proprietary to SONY?) Anyway, like many of the other posts I read, I have a ton of samples in both MPEG-3 (mostly "legal" sound clips off the web) and .MSV that I want to load up and edit/screw with/sequence, and the sampler won't take them.

Is either of these an acceptable file format for the 1000, and if not, is there some type of freeware platform I can download to convert these file codecs to one that the sampler can play? By the way, I am totally hardware-based in my studio; I only use a PC to occasionally get samples and to work with the SONY voice recorder software.

Sorry for a long post; if anyone can help or give advice I would appreciate it very much. In the meantime I will continue to search the database.

Quick search on google (SONY ICD-MX20 + .wsv to .wav) and I found this for your sony recorder: http://irish.typepad.com/irisheyes/2005/11/sony_digital_vo.html

with that you should be able to convert your .wsv files to .wav files on your pc.

And the mpc1000 reads only WAV/PCM files.

So yes, you have to convert all files to WAV/PCM 16 Bit 44.1 kHz.

AUDACITY is a freeware audioeditor that should be useful for conversions, but I'm not sure because I'm not using it.

For conversion any professional Wav-Editor should do it.
I use for example Steinberg Wavelab.
