Anyone ever attempted a rock/metal track with an MPC?

Has anyone on this forum ever attempted or succeeded in making a rock/metal track with an MPC only using nothing but samples? If so, was it as successful as you thought it would be? Some feedback on track and experience plz...peace

a dude i know made a Rock/Hip Hop type of beat with his 2000 and it came out solid as a ****.

i wish i had all the details but i wasn't there when he made it. i just got to hear the finish product.

i am assuming it was all samples (they don't have a guitar or a keyboard with heavy metal soundz)

if i run into him i will ask about the track

I did a track after I had seen blink 182 on mtv.. they inspired me to do a beat that needs to be finished. I took the drums from my motiff expansion card. I haven't heard it in a lil while, but I'll put it online when I run across it again..

theres a metal band called Samael. on the album Passage its all MPC. dude programed the shit out of it. he was the drummer but concentrated more on keys so theres the explaination.

i like to mess around with different types of music all the time. I mean i mostly make hip hop on my mpc but nowadays i listen to lots of rock and jazz. Ive made a few rock beats and they come out decent. I like making new kinds of music that cant be catorgorized into any particular genre also.

i use a lot of samples from classic rock like marshall tucker, neil young, blue oyster cult etc, i lay it down over a hip hop beat, maybe f***ing with the pitch of the samples a bit. it always comes out sounding pretty good.

The drummer from Marilyn Manson programs his drums on an MPC3000 in the studio, he only plays them live at shows, I read this once... if you want to hear an all rock track done on the MPC, check MARCH OF DEATH by Zack De La Rocha produced by DJ Shadow... also DJ Shadow had a track called GUNS BLAZING: DRUMS OF DEATH part1 on the UNKLE album Psyence Fiction... DJ Shadow's amazing... the things he does with an MPC3000 make me feel inferior...

I did one its on my sounslick page called 'Rocky' came out nice....i was expiermentin with rock samples....to make a rock hip-hop feel

Personally no, but I know Linkin Park and Limp Biskit do alot of programming on the MPC

its almost a stupid question you know... the MPC is simply a piece of gear not some hiphop fashion tool. a friend did a Sepultura "Roots" remix straight from MPC and it was great.

as for doing any live instrument recording on the MPC... its possible but no way.

tonnes of metal bands use MPCs by the way... like i said its not just a hiphop thing.

2nd I never said that it was just a "hip hop" thing

Hmmm. I think that answer was more stupid than the question. I didn't see the word hiphop in his question anywhere. Why the attack?
I think his point was a finding rock track consisting of SAMPLES rather than played instruments.

Check out DJ Z-TRIP's "Rockstar" and "Rockstar 2" from the Return Of The DJ series.
Also, groups like Ministry and Nine Inch Nails sometimes sample their guitars and then program them.
