MPC2000XL Memory and Drives

There was two 16mb cards installed when I got my MPC2000XL. The only problem is that I can't save or load anything on or from them. It acts like they aren't there at all. Please help.

I also got a zip drive with my MPC2000XL. I have them set on different IDs like im supposed to and have the termination set to "off" and still does'not work. I've looked inside the MPC and it doesn't look like the SCSI is connected to anything, but I could be wrong. Please help.

You dont save to the memory chips u save and load from a source such as an floppy, zip, ect.. Now if u are saying that when u go to load and it says not enough memory or something then u need to make sure your memory chips are pushed alway down cause they do pop up sometimes when being moved around.

then what is the point of the two 16mb cards? Do you have any info on getting my lomega 100 zip drive to work?

THe cards are so u can load up sounds. Just like on a computer if u have memory but no hard drive then will your computer still load up? NO but if u have a hard drive and not enough memory u wont be able to load up and do a lot of stuff.

Also u dont need to start two threads on the same thing your question will get answered eventually. But i hate SCSI its a pain in the a**.

Is your ZIP drive external or internal ? If it's external, then it's ok if the SCSI port inside the MPC isn't connected to anything. If the zip IS internal, then you've just solved ya own problem. You'll need to get a 50-pin SCSI ribbon cable and attach one end to the SCSI board inside the MP, and the other end to the ZIP drive. Be sure to terminate it, cuz it's the last device in the SCSI chain. If you plan to use the external SCSI port along with the internal one, then you need to make sure you terminate the external device and NOT the internal ZIP, cuz the external device should be the last device in the chain. First of all if it's an external scsi zip drive and it's the only device connected to your MPC's scsi port, then make sure the termination is set to ON.

If I happened to blow the SCSI port, how much would it cost to replace it?
