equalizing and mixing samples

i dont own an mpc yet, im waiting on some cash all at once, when im going to buy the whole setup, mpc, desk, etc.....but i was wondering..how do you equalize each individual sample? is there a built in EQ or something? the ideal set up would to have each individual sound run thru a channel on the mixer, is this how most ppl have their mpc set up? is this even possible to do?

Yes, like most other mixers eack track on that mixer can have its own MONO channel...Just assigh each sound to its own channel..Simple!

i think (personally) that mixer is too much to start with. why dont u try getting something a bit easier to use, get the feel of it, u kno? its easy to buy shyt u dont need.

if you $1300 to burn on a mixer cop a cheap one 1st and learn the basics of eqing and individual channels

While I agree that you probably don't NEED that mixer, I don't think it's a bad idea to get it. It's a 24 channel 8 bus mixer, those 8 busses are really gonna come in handy down the road when you get deeper into everything. Mixers can be very intimidating, tons of knobs, buttons and faders but they're actually pretty simple to learn. The key is to not look at the WHOLE board but just one channel, you learn one channel and the other 23 are exactly the same. The only real difference between the big boards and the little boards are how many channels you're dealing with, versatility and build and component quality.

i can co-sign that............but it is more than just the channels to learn......there are buttons on there too buddy......learn what they mean...learn what they do.........get some good monitors if you wanna get a board with an ill eq setup so you can know what is "too little" and what is "too much"!

first and foremost, before u spend that kinda cash, you've got to make sure this is what u wanna do. thats why i say go with an easier mixer to get aquainted with before buying the eurodesk, it is a very nice setup tho, and will be very kick a$$ down the road.
also big mixers like that, are too technical for beginners, (personally i think they take away from the creative level) but thats just me

Start out with an older one, get a used one on ebay like Prah said, and learn what's what, then you can upgrade to a better one later if you're not satisfied... sounds almost like I'm giving out dating advice don't it?

You can ->never<- have enough Mixer Channels...Its a good idea to get a big enough Mixer at start, because if you wanna expand later you dont have to sell the small crap again.

If you add more stuff later you want to connect each of those single outs to a dedicated channel, and sooner as you think all your channels are eaten up, and you spend more time switching cables than making music...

What is your idea of the whole setup?? Eliberate on the 'etc'
Keyboards....modules...Bass synths?? Which ones and how many in total?

Work out what your gonna be buying...The amount of outputs each of them have amd then think about the mixer you need. There is nothing wrong with the mixer you have pointed out, but you have other options.

What ever mixer you get, get a decent one (Small or big)...Crap ones dont teach u much b'cos A) They dont even sound good and B) They dont really come with standard fuctions alot of the 'better' ones do. For instance 3 band EQ (Sweepable mid). crap ones can also turn out to be a waste of money....You outgrow em fast.....They either break or you cant sell em

id think of getting a small good cheap mixer first (mackie or tapco)... even after you "graduate" you could always use it when playing live.
