sp-1200 or mpc 1000

a sp 1200 for $500 or a mpc 1000. be dang honest. please

For that price I'D get the SP , BUT thats down to personal preference and as an addition to what I already got........The two aren't really something you can really compare tho........Two different machines.

$500 is too much for an SP. I've paid less for them before (actually I managed to buy 2 in the same lifetime for <$500). After playing with them for a while, I said to myself "Is this it?" and promptly sold them and kept the MPC's.

Sorry, but I found better fuctionality out of a Korg Es-1 at 1/4 the price.

Get the MPC1000.

i can take cd's produced wit tha 1200 and sample them wit the 1000.
would that still work as well?

I was refering to the cost of $500 in £....That would be around £250 or so ....That I could live with

$500 is not too much for an SP1200... they run for between $800 and $1800 here in the US... it's a classic that will always retain value... but every sample has to be 2.5 seconds long or less. An MPC1000 would probably be the better buy for someone who's never owned either machine cause you can use it and learn it with the manual and it's modern sample capabilities make sampling much easier than chopping it by ear, it has a graphic waveform display so you can see the sounds as you chop them...

Its something like having a Stradivari or something...Its a special instrument, and it might give ya a good feel. I have never tested one actually, so i dont know for sure..
