Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By bloodstaindtshrt Wed May 03, 2006 6:53 pm
I have a lomega 100 zip drive, but can't seem to get it to work. It has "termination" "on" "off" which i believe should be "on", but have tried it both ways and SCSI "6" "5".. since the MPC2000XL is 6 the zip must be on "5". After it still didn't work, I looked at the inside of the MPC2000XL and it looks like the SCSI isn't hooked up to anything inside, but I could be wrong because I don't know exactly what I'm looking for. Any help would be appreciated, pictures etc. Thank you.

Hopefully you didn't blow the SCSI fuse when you hooked up to the MPC.
This ususally happens when you turn on the external drive then hook the SCSI cable up to the already turned on MPC.
Or your SCSI cable might be bad.

It would be way to expensive to replace the SCSI port wouldn't it? Expecially since I just bought a Multi disk drive.

In the disk screen can you scroll in device, or does it just say 'wait' when you hit shift+disk?
Set your drive to 6 and scroll to SCSI-5 on the MPC, see what happens
Remember you need to a have a disk in before you goto the disk screen

I tried what you recommended, but the MPC wouldn't even let me change its SCSI to 6. It goes from 5 straight to 7.

go to scsi 4 then go to main screen. now insert your disk, hit shift and disk, then switch it to scsi 5.
