Yes but u will not be able to burn cds. It will work as an loading device. Not storage.

strange why that is so, you'd think, if it can write files to a hard drive or a flash drive, it could do a cd writer.

Its not setup to burn to cds. That would require an OS setup.

Oh yeah something else. When u burn a cd u finalize it. But when u save on a hard drive, zip, floppy,ect. You are finalizing it. You can erase and save. Also when buring cds u have to go through imaging and all that stuff. The MPC well the XL doesnt have the technology on it yet. THe 2500 and i think the 4000 have that ability.

i see, so what about cdrw? they work differently, in that you don't have to finalize them. maybe there's a cdrw drive out there that would work?

If you cant use a cd burner u cant save to CD-RW's. Why because it requires a burner to save the data.
