MPC 60 Dead?

Yeah the "altern8" one! Well most of the specialist places that could get it fixed are down in London (100 miles away). It's got a sticker on the back saying it was repaired at a music shop in Cambridge (I think I brought this up in the previous thread) which is the other side of the country. I did get in contact with them and they said that this repair would've been a long time ago because it wasn't in their current records. They didn't offer to go back in their early records to check for me so I kind of left it at that. I did get a quote from them it was something like £60 initial fee then more on top depending on what the fault(s) is/are PLUS Postage or travelling costs for me to drive over to take it to them and return it.

I dunno, but I've just bought ANOTHER fully expanded Mk.1 which is kosher so the other one will probably stay in its case for a few months. I might be also sorting out storage for my records if so then it'll probably get put in there and promptly forgotten about!

In combination with the brown cable being dis-connected to the white socket down by OS chips 3 & 4.

It powers up normally now and I'm getting the normal menu and everything but its fading in and out due to that loose connection methinks. Sampling is 26.2 seconds so RAM's fine too.... Just got to get that thing resoldered

what'd you do about the loose connection?

kept moving it around in its socket until something happened! I think that brown lead though was a big factor, cos it didn't matter what I did, if it weren't plugged in then nothing would've worked ("disk" button LED lighting up and nothing happening).

whats the A for?

its a reference to an earlier thread and I wanted to know if this was the power lead that always goes or summit.........

either way bruvvaz gonna work it out:

that mpc on the left looks nasty, too much smoke around it.

doesn't really smell of smoke, but it could've been left in sunlight for prolonged periods.

Anyway further developments! I just pulled that lead out at the loose connection end and the display seems to stay on, theres the odd flicker but yeah it seems good now! I think that lead is for a backlight someone said in my original problem thread!

yeah that things the invertor for the backlight power rails pull it out u get no backlight
