3k filter is ill. dont sleep

By earwolf Mon May 01, 2006 10:54 pm
i'm not sleeping i'm wide awake watching the snooker final and updating basecamp, my life is so edgy and raw right now...

i think all filtering has never been akais strong suit...i had a 950 and it was ok, more just like a very basic tone control than a really useful creative tool. the roland and emu samplers i have owned had way more power and punch in the filtering dept, but not the smack of the 60, so i find there's a bit of hopping aound to get the desired effect. sherman filterbank is on the list, heads i listen to seem to put that up as #1

hmmm so Dott took it then, but I didn't watch that intensely.

the shermans are pretty expensive but I've heard good things about them.

Anyone rate this as a cheaper alternative?

but if uz buying an mpc, go for the MK1, wait a while, spend a little more, much more enjoyable for a MK1 than a MKII

hah I reckon its more likely to be customs, absoloutely a law unto themselves them cunce are. But its not just the postage issues that put me off but also power supplies etc. I know you can get voltage transformers but I still don't like it....

naw, it was the post office. it sucked. the guy was at least cool, a richard d james from london:-), believed me that i sent it out. it got sent to me i had to pay like $50 to get the return cost another $50 to ship it back. oh well. he got it in the end. I miss that studio 440, that's why mez gettin another one soon...

i got too many sampling drum machines atm now too:

2xMpc60, 1 studio 440...

a few months ago it was a little worse, forat9000, sp1200, mpc3000, mpc1000

out of all of em, i really love the mpc60 the most. 3000 is cool, but i'd rather a 60 i like the button arrangement better. and i use an akai s6000 for the hi fi sounds, mpc60+s6000 costs about the same as an mpc3000, and now i got many more options, about 256mb of ram, USB, effects, 128 voices, lots of sample editing features, removable face... i think everyone should do this combo;-)

no way! I was told he had his own island just off devon/cornwall!

I'm after a Korg CX-3 (the new one) a roland VP-9000 and a sherman filterbank, but I'm well and truly skint.

Them filterbanks can be picked up for less than £300 used.

A couple of the Moog's will set you back more but then i'm sure they sound nice
