i've heard nothing but good things about the ASR-x.
there's no point in "machine spirit" though - supporting a machine just cuz you have it. sounds like this guy has experienced a couple mpcs. although he dwells a little bit too much on the sound of the machine itself (i tend to worry about the sound of the final song post mastering more than machine sound) it sounds like he's found himself a good workstation.
someday i hope to have an asrx.
