learning how to use the optional hard drive with my mpc 2500

i have a question about the optional 20gb hard drive ,i loaded some samples into the hard drive but when i try to load them up ,it only lets me load up only a small amount of the samples,and it would say i have insuficient memory,how can i load up all my samples that i put on my hard drive?

well is ya ram maxed or do ustill have da standard 16 mb?

If u have the 16mb then thats not enough to load up a bunch of sounds.

well if u only have 16mb then thats all u can load. U come out better upgrading to the 128mb expansion.

The hard drive is only for storage, no streaming of samples.

You can put max of 128mb into the 2500, which you can then use for tracks, programs, samples etc

Yeah... I know it's a little confusing. Let me break it down for you. The memory (RAM) is somewhat of a storage device. We'll call it SHORT TERM MEMORY. You can load samples and sound files into the short term memory to bang out a beat. Once you turn your MPC off, it's gone. If you only have 16mb, you are limited to loading up only 16mb into your "memory". The Hard drive is your LONGTERM MEMORY. This is where you store beats you have made or all your samples. If you want to up your short term memory, you will have to upgrade to the 128mb ram. There are threads on that topic all over the place here, you just have to look. Hope this helped.
