1. Yes - with an audio/midi interface
2. you cannot necicarrily track beats THROUGh the midi keyboard. it will be through the interface - you will be able to make music on the pc if thats what your asking.
3. I use the Tascam interface. the one you are looking into getting. its never cause me any issues - Works as I would expect it to.
4. yes.

Hypes, do you use Reason? All my friends using Reason says it´s not capable of audio recording. Have they implemented that function recently?

I use Nuendo - the trial version. it records and you can process and arrange your tracks with it. its the fukking sheeit. sparq has a vid on how to sync it up with your 1k as well.

I have used other DAWs but do not know the specifics of each one

with the oxygen8 keyboard you do not necicarrily need an interface because it hooks directly to the pc with USB. but if you want to track your music out using the 1k you will need one.

let me know if you want me to explain further.

Ask the dude at GC before ya buy it so he can explain it to ya.

this is true - thats why I told him to ask the dude at GC, so We would not have to explain all of this to him. but keep this in mind.

Also if you go to GC make sure you talk to someone who is certified ( yes they have certifactions there lol ) that way you dont get a total noob whos just trying to make a sell. Make sure you check for things as i mentioned above plus if you want fantom power , seprate cue mixes , dsp , what windows it will run on ect .............

The thing is that Reason don´t qualify as a DAW as it´s not handling digital audio other than generating it or processing incoming audio. It does not record or edit digital audio, unless it´s been implemented the last weeks, Propellerheads webpage didn´t mention anything hinting in that direction though.
Could any Reason user verify this so Dominique don´t get Reason and has the impression it could act as a DAW with recording.

reason is not a daw = you CANNOT record or edit audio ( other than samples ) with reason.

DAW's

Logic ( mac )
Nuendo
Cubase
Acid
Pro tools
Sonar
Samplitude
Traction
Digital Preformer ( mac )
