Maannnn...I got a quick question

check it out......I have a Motif 6, a MPC 2000XL, and my G4 (OSX) with Digital Performer. I do not have a midi interface. BUt I'm trying to use my Motif's USB interface. Look I want to sequence into my MPC. My MPC is the sequencer nothing else. Okay?!!lol aight so...after I get everything sequenced in the MPC I then want to track it into Digital Performer using my Motif's interface. How can I do it?Oh yeah...I'm using a M-Audio Delta 44 as an audio interface. I give thanks in advance. I tried to search for countless hours, couldn't find anything. peace

So you want to use your Motif along with your MPC correct? Then track out your beats?

Well i suggest you get two midi cables and connect the motif to the mpc via midi.

Motif MIDI OUT to MPC MIDI IN
MPC MIDI OUT to Motif MIDI IN

Then if you get an midi interface u good to go with tracking to software. (no details on that cause i dont use software)

yo she said that she doesnt use software. so.......... I need some help as far as tracking from my mpc to my mac. I dont have an interface ( but I do!), I wanna use the Motif as an interface. understand? I have the motif and Mpc synced traditionally. because I slave the motif to the mpc and do all my sequencing. Now that I got my song togther in the mpc, I wanna track it to my mac(digital performer), only its that I'm going to use the motif's usb as my only connection to the mac. Ok....there might have been some miscommunication or whatever.....but can someone.....anyone.....help me...this ish is running me crazy. my lights were cut off this morning for a random four hours. I was mixing down and.....I think I'm going to kill someone.

dude, that combination wont work the way u r imagining it.

Have you installed the USB/MIDI software that came with the Motif on your computer? OSX/Digital Performer will not see the Motif as a Midi Device unless the software's installed.

Once you do this the Motif should appear in the Audio/Midi control panel on OSX. It should also appear in Digital Performer.

In the Utility section on the Motif go to Midi-->Other--> and set the MIDI IN/OUT to USB.

Now, I don't know if this will turn off data coming through the normal Midi ports. But if it enables both the USB and MIDI ports simultaneously on the Motif you're in business.
Connect the MPC Midi output to the Motif's Midi input
The Midi will pass through the Motif from the MPC into Performer.

aight ciioool. So check it out....I hooked it up and see.....I told you....the mac is recognizing the Motif as an 8 port midi interface. The only thing is that....the motif only has midi in/midi out, thru, and usb. So. when I have the mpc hooked to the motif in and out I did a sound check for the devices, the mac played the motif and the mpc. I understand everything about midi up until this point here. Don't give up on me, because now I know its possible. Please do not post anything suggesting anything else. All it takes is a few of us to put our big heads together. I'm kind of proud seeing as this is a problem...I will conquer this....I will rule midi.

yeah sir.....so i shouldn't even worry bout the mpc and the mac connection until I'm finished with working the full sequence right? one more thing...when I track to DP....how will it sound? will I have control of dp or vice versa, and if so either way, i really wanna keep the Mpc feel on the sequencing. yo I'm done, I feel good. If I get help with this last little bit...I'm ready...I wanna help others.

As long as you don't quantise in Digital performer it should be ok. You might experience some latency (delay) in the Midi coming from the MPC to the computer. Also I'd keep all your drum stuff on the MPC as the internal timing of the MPC is tighter than MIDI.
