This sounds exactly like the Slice function on the Electribe ES-1 and ESX.

Admitted, it does sound awful when played regularly in a forward direction, but the Electribes had a cool function where you could reverse individual slices using automation for some tripped out Fx.

Don't know if the 1k can do this (i don't own one, considering), but it sounds like you could achieve the same effect by creating a program from the individual slices and then sequencing the hits forward as they were sliced. Then just apply reverse to individual slices as you like.

Infact, this way the 1k can go further than the Electribe because you can apply individual Fx to each slice as well as the reverse on the slices. Crazy stuff!
