IDEA: Sharing samples?

Remember that SoulSeek sample sharing that Antonym started? (Think it was Antonym, correct me if I'm wrong).

It sort of died, but I really liked the idea and used it alot - so I'm thinking about starting something again... Maybe SoulSeek is not the right network. What do ya'll use? Torrents?

What I would like is to share "legal" samples (selfsampled bass programs, piano multisamples, drum kits and so on - not anything that will contradict the rules of this forum or MPC-Samples.com)

What do you think of the idea?

(I don't know if this is the right forum to post this in, cuz I would like everybody to see it - MPC1000 users, MPC2500 users, MPC2000/XL users etc.)

ive been thinkin bout this too.

my idea was something like this. if lets say 30 members was intersted in sharing samples, we could all chip in and rent some serverspace and uppload what ewer we want to share. this way we all have acess to the files and it stays among those whom help rent the server, eweryone gets their own password and user name.

and as new members wish to join, there will be more money for more storage space.
if there enuff people interested in joinig i could look into it. holla

yo im a cool cat yo, and i got mad space on my website. I could probably use some of that space for the samples. The only thing is, how would users upload to my site? im assuming yall would have to send it to me, and id have to upload it. just an idea

Sounds good! Maybe you know how to create an extra FTP-user at set a folder up for FTP sharing?

yeah, if eweryone got their own pasword they can uppload and download from the server as they wish. start up flashfxp. server adress, username, password. download or uppload.

so if we are at least 20 peoples it would work. 5$ each is not much for having acess to all that. and like i said before. if we start as 20, for every new member that joins we split the rent money equally so if we are 24 month 2 it would be
99/24. and when we are 40 peoples we uppgrade to:

1 TB (2x500 GB) HDD
· 2000 GB Traffic
· 100Mbps Connection
199$$

and after that as the number of members grow we cut down the prices. and if someone fails to pay rent for one onth the account will be canceld and bannned.


only way to be a member should be thru recomendation from one of the original member as a safety precaution.

yo d, how much space you got? cuz i was thinking of entiere sample libraries. plus the traffic passing thru the server a month. so if we exeed your traffic limit it would not be good for your site.

I don't want other peoples samples. I just thougt some would like some rare vinyl samples.

i just got into the ftp thing, its tricky but i got it to work (uploading new visual styles for my forum). with some flowers around, i could figure out a group ftp or whatever.


as far as space, im only using 1% of my space, and i got videos and shit loaded on my site (no links to them now though)

as far as traffic, ill have to look into that.

This is alright! But I don't find megashare or yousendit very reliable... Alternatively we could join a group chat on AIM, i.e. named "mpc"...

why cant uyou just use a rapidshare link or filefont

If the whole pint is to trade samples not pay

and if the link aint up long enough...first com first serve basis

or you can require for every download you need to upload something equal or greater the size...upon demand

that way there will never be a link down
