Multitracking

just want to get an idea what you fellas using to Multitrack......I have a lot of beats that in my 2500 that I are no recorded....and I have about 2000 to spend on a recording setup. I just need something simple to separate tracks and mixdown...So I am thinking protools/Mac Powerbook/M-audio firewire1814.
I would really appreciate your 2 cents if you think there is better solution and if i would run into anyproblems syncing my 2500 with protools, especially with the absence of MTC.

In addition to an MPC 2500 if I was buying today?

I would pick up the Mac Powerbook, Apogee Ensemble, and Logic Pro 7. But..I would have an hard time trying to get that set-up for under $2K. Now that I think about it...wouldn't the Powerbook take up most of your budget?

The Pro Tools/M Audio package is very respectable though.........

Thanks Jahrome....I hear Logic is good but I need something really simple to just multitrack....which is why I thought protools would be a good way to go. I especially need something that will sync very easy with a DAW...
The way it looks I can get a refurb or second hand 17inch PBook in NY for less 1400, sound card and protools 7.1 will run me 550.

I just picked up the the M-Audio delta 1010 myself for $400. The thing works great with pro tools. Honestly if i had 2000, i would get a a desktop from dell, and with the rest of the money, pick up a digiRack pro tools interface from ebay. You cant go wrong man....Also, the options with pro tools is nearly endless.....
