Hiya. getting a bit hot under the coller. read the manual and cant see what im doing wrong, have loaded a bass drum from floppy called BD1 then went to record mode and recorded a snare from a record and called it sn1 , all good so far, went back to the edit sample page and selected bd1 to go though all the programming ie tuning and chopping then to the next edit mode to filter and keygroup,. go back and do the same with sn1, selcting the sound in the edit sample screen and moving the curser over to the name field and turning the wheel to get the desired sound, then on the field below to match it. am I changing the name here in error? or do I need to select something to use multi samples in the s950? the manual aint givin no clues!

ALMOST RESOLVED

Mind you I have come to doing it again and in the key group field put 4 in as I have 4 sounds i wish to map. I assn the bd to c3 the sn to c3# the hat to D3, however when I come to play the pads on the MPC or keyboard they are all BD?!? each one has a different number in the k-group part in the edit mode and on the soft sample part
I assn each part to a new key, really confused now!!

when you hit the mpc's pads, and they all sound the bd, is it played at different pitches? could be that by creating a keygroup set to four, you're specifying that you want four sounds layered. my (basic) understanding of keygroups tells me that a keygrouped sample will be mapped across the keys at different pitches, rather than just play one sample per key. i don't know the 950 at all though, so maybe i'm way off base. i'll read the manual and get back to you.

right, all you need to do is to change the range of keys that each sample plays on. go to edit program, and then go down to page 5, there you can edit the high and low notes that define the range that the sample is play on, so set both to say c3, or whatever you like.
