Wrong File !! Error. When loading from CF Card...Anyone?

Has anyone had this error? It happens when I try to load a sample from the compact flash card. These are all short drum sounds edited in Pro Tools and exported as 16 bit wav files. I tried both the CF Card that comes with the akai as well as a Sandisk 256. Is it the format that I'm using? I've even shortened the names to 3 letters, all files are mono...Everything that I've edited in pro tools doesn't load. I had a couple of sounds from sample cds and they load. So, the only thing I can come up with is that maybe the file format is incorrect. Anyone got any ideas?[/b]

sorry to hear that you are having problems. I have not purchased my MPC yet... But I am trying to see what kind of problems people are having with this new box. Well anyway, I wanted to know if you were still able to dump your samples via PC?

There is nothing wrong with your CF cards. The problem is that, in ProTools, you are saving your samples in the wrong format. I'm not gonna go into to mach details, but there are few types of .wav format. Try to save it as the "PCM" .wav, and if you are using windows, it will be "Windows PCM" .wav .
This should make your problem go away

I don't know how you can change the type of wave file you create in pro tools. I went to the preferences panel in pt and there was nothing that mentioned pcm type of .wav and there is no option to export the .wav any other way when you export the audio file. I even tried bringing in audio files via logic: pc wave file 16 bit, and those files didn't even show up in the mpc!? I'm using a Mac os 10.2.8 with pro tools 6.1.2 and logic 6.3. Neither work! Has anyone used those 2 programs to edit and export sounds and brought them into the mpc 1000 and have it read it? If so, please tell me how you did it...thanks

Yea brant, I have had this error as well and I dont use PT, I used SF and my MPC2000 to create the wav file or downloaded them from the web.
I know for a fact that they are .wav files because at one time, (all be it one day) worked on the MPC1000.

I have tried 3 different cards and none work.
After troubleshooting the issue for a few weeks with them we think its the CF reader in the MPC.

It is being shipped to Akai in Cali on monday. Maybe they can figure it out.

im getting the same problem about loading samples that should be ok. i have this folder of samples.. Peak sez the files are legit but the mpc wont load anything. it recognizes the file as being in its folder (it took a few tries for me to even get it to do that) but then it says "wrong file type!" when i hit "DO IT!"

at this point i havent ruled out my screwing things up. but it does seem weird that it's just this one folder.

I would like to know this as well. I have tried a few different card from best buy, I am on card #4 and would like to know if anyone else had had this card thing work.

The same thing happened to me with samples from protools as well. My setup is pretty much the same as yours. I emailed akai and they told me they had to be stereo .wav files and not mono, but that didn't help either. I've emailed them again to try and get more help, but it really sucks not to be able to use all this stuff I got. The only thing I could think the problem would be is because I'm using a mac or it's protools. Everything loaded off my pc laptop has worked, so I really don't know. They need to get this ish straight that's for sure. I let you guy's know what they say when I hear back. BTW this is my first post here, and I have to say this is a real tight forum. Good luck!

You do not need to have stereo, to tell the truth in my whole life using a sampler I have never , ever sampled in stereo, allways in mono, saves room. If this were the case they would not have this be an option on the 1k. also sounds like the helpdesk needs to get their info together, thats the worst bit of info I heard. bahhh!!!

That's why I'm goin to cop the Roland MV-8000! Roland support is much better then AKAI's support team! Plus AKAI don't care they know there goin to get paid when they drop a MPC if it's complete or not ya feel me!

I agree with your responses bliss and effekt, akai definitely needs to get their sh** together with customer help. This thing is really pissing me off, I've got all these samples ready to go, but can't load em up. I guess I'll just have to record straight in from my table and chop them up in the mpc. Any other ideas you guys have? Thanks
