quick question about midi capabilities

i DID search tho, and i'm still curious...

my dad has a nice keyboard with midi capabilities so i brought my mpc1000 upstairs to try it out. i plugged one midi cable into the keyboards midi out/mpc midi in, turned local control off, and found that i wasn't getting my desired result.

my keyboard was working nicely as a controller, but i want the sounds of the keyboard to play on my mpc.

soooo, do i need ANOTHER midi cable to plug from keyboard midi in to mpc midi out? or what?

in short, yes.

or just use one going FROM the mpc TO the keyboard and you can hit mpc pad to hear keyboard soundz.
