2000xl vs 1000

I'm supprised that this comparison has not been brought up. These are both in the same price range used. I owned the 1000 but have always wondered about the 2000xl. Has anyone worked on both, and can give some insight here?

Owned the 1k, 2k, and XL.

Out of the three i choose the 2k. The XL was nice the 1k gave me headache. The 2k did exactly what i wanted and plus its a classic. Its like a Mustang. The older it is the more its worth. My 2k is a 65 mustang. The XL is like a 70 something mustang while the 1k is like 90 something mustang and the 2500 is one of those new mustangs.

now you're talking my language (cars)! what made you get headaches with the 1k? did you own another mpc before you got that?

i had the same problem as you man... i couldnt chose between 1k or xl
i chose the xl and dont regret it at all
the xl is more hands on u dont need to touch the computer...
with the xl u get a more grimey sound
plus with the xl u get the optiion of putting 8 outs which is HUGE
last bot not least the xl feel i find is much better then the feel of the 1k
EXAMPLE: size of pads
anyways this is just my opinion.... 1k is an amazing machine so is the 2xl but what u have to decide right now is which one suits ure needs
go to a guitar store near you and try it out

even if u dont know anythin about mpcs ull know which machine u want after u do ure reasearch well and go try the machines out ureself
took my three months of research b4 knowing which mpc was good for my needs

yes i would also like to know what gave you a headache about the 1000...

The sequencer had me goin crazy. I couldnt lay down stuff like i did on my 2k. I couldnt get the swing and shi* right but yall wont or shouldnt experience that b/c when i got the 1k the new OS was no way near out. So im pretty sure this is well taken care of.

I don't know if this is true or not but I heard that the 1000, 2500 and the 4000 are all pretty much the same os with just more features and the 2000xl is a whole new ballgame, so if you switch form a 1000 to a 4000 your fine, but from a 1000 to a 2000xl is like learning a whole new machine. Also the 60 and 3000 are very similar but unlike the others.

really thats pretty weird from my experience with the 2000 classic and the 1000 everything i sequenced sounded the same, but thats just me.

but yeah 2000xl and 1000 are both good buys

with both machines i dont think you're going to get much more features as far as the operating system updates go, only bug fixes.

just take a look at the features that both of them have now and weigh it out, whats more important to have? the bigger pads dont make much of a difference if you know how to work your shit, i mean if your just hitting them track 1 kick track 2 snare track 3 hats, i dont really see the need for better pads (as far as them being bigger), as you can see by waxmastawes' video hes able to knock out live drum pattens that sound really good with the 1000's "small pads"'

i think from swithcin from the 1k to the 4k is a big change because the setup and more features plus more other things on it , i dont know idont own a 4k but i have a 1k and im guessin thats tha case , but yea the 25k is too similar u wont have no other problems learning it , its way too easy lol.

What are you on about?

You dont need to touch a computer at all with the 1k either. You ahve a CHOICE of connecting it with USB to transfer data if you want, that is all...

sorry man maybe its not true... its just wat ive heard in da past on this forum... i might be wrong... by all means man i dont have as much experience as 3 quarters of the ppl that are here... sorry for the bad info...i dont own a 1k so maybe i shouldnt have given my opinion... but like i said i base my info on what ive been told in da past on this forum... i remember the day i started on this forum the first thread i posted was whats better 1k or the xl and the ppl gave me the same reasons as the ones i posted on this thread anyways ma man sorry again for any wrong info
but plz if theres anythin else on my post that u dont think is right let me know... im still learnin

before os 2.1 came out, then yeah the 2kxl was better, but now things have changed, and the 1k can do more.
