Just the first time, then save the PGM from the 60 and you get regular load times.

I got some crackling when I used wav2snd sometimes on low quality sounds (8 bit) but converting them to 16 and using mpc editor works everytime.

Hmmm. I think most guys that use the 60 these days actually WANT to hear the artifacts/alliasing. I think it's what people perceive as "grit."
People pay $1400 for a SP1200 BECAUSE they want to hear that ugly alliasing (I love that sound in hiphop.)
If you want a cleaner sound, step up to a 2000XL, or 4000.

That's not aliasing, that's a bad sample file. The grit is different.
Aliasing isn't pretty. The grit is a kind of overall slight distortion. I've never gotten the crackle from sampling from the inputs.
Not that I got the crackle more than twice. 8 bit wav files don't convert to 16 bit very well, and I blame that.
As for the 60. don't knock it! See how many problems you get with the flimsy 2000 after 17 years!
