Loose Pads

Pads 9 and 10 are a little loose but they still work. It is hard to tap on them when I assign a sound to the pads because the pads slide and it will do a roll. Should I try to fix them myself or should I send it to Akai and have them fix it? I'm pissed because I finally finished my exams and I have time to work with my mpc and now I have problems with it.

Any input?

I had the same problem with my pads. I removed the cover of the MPC then wedged small pieces of cardboard from a cereal box in between the pads. The cardboard filled the gap in between the pads and stopped them from sliding.

yea I could probably do that, but that prolly looks ghetto as hell. Anyway, I should truthfully send it to Akai and have them fix even if I really don't want to give it up.

Actually it doesn’t look ghetto at all because you can’t see the cardboard once the cover is back on. This was a problem I had with a brand new unit. I was going to exchange it but after I looked at the way the pads are designed I figured that I would have this problem again eventually even with a new unit. This was a simple problem to fix.
