does anyone have an original pressing of this? ive seen a few DIFFERENT copies of this and they all seem to differ just a bit(cover,numbers,etc)... what would i look for to find out if a copy is an original, repress, or a bootleg? i saw 3 copies today, but i wanted to do a bit of research before i copped one(i couldnt decide which one to cop!), this record aint cheap!!!

any help would be greatly appreciated...

it folds out to a really big photo of the street scene, on the cover

Yep, and the label says beastie boys instead of capital. The inner sleeve is also green.

I hope I am remembering correctly. I have the record at home.

how much did you see it priced at?

I see a lot of beastie boys stuff that's beeing released now. I picked up Check your Head, new (my old copy is nackered), for $14, and i couldn't tell the difference between the old and new one?
I don't think it's a bootleg, we never really have bootlegs here. Who cares, it's cheap and has good music on it.

i saw a few copies for $17.99 but they were used and resealed so you couldnt check em out, the spines had 2 different id numbers, some had a C followed by some numbers, another had a GR followed by some numbers... i know the record came out on Capitol Records so i was guessing that the one with the C in the identification number was a real issue, plus i bet Capitol has reissued this rec many times by now... who knows...

cuz when youre spending about a dub on a record, you might as well get the BEST one, as long as its in good condition, no scratches, and sounds cool, im down... id also rather have a repress by the actual label that released it, than some bootleg copy that some random hustler pressed up... bootlegging with hiphop lps is alot bigger than you think it is, extremely lucrative also! most bootlegs of classic lps cost $20 or so by the time it hits the customer in the store! id rather not support bootleggers for the most part, unless i cant get the record i want any other way, sometimes bootlegs are the only way to get something you want on wax... not to mention SOME bootlegs actually sound better than the original pressing if the person who has it pressed actually knows what the flowers they're doing... ive bought bootleg records that were ALL defective, they ALL skipped straight out the wrapper, i tried MULTIPLE COPIES of the same lp and they were ALL bad! ive also had some official re-releases have this same problem as the bootlegs did! records usually suck when they use a cd master and dont try to remaster it to wax(especially when someone pauses the damn track during the dumping/recording processes! YES ive actually found records that have this careless azz error in them, NUMEROUS COPIES OF THE SAME RECORD, ALL BRAND FUKN NEW!) ... even some original records sound like chit because they play at such a low volume, its usually records that were originally pressed on SINGLE vinyl when there are a lot of tracks that they squeezed onto em before they started releasing most decent length lps on double vinyl "for the dj"...

oh and...

i DID have that tape back when it dropped... and im pretty sure back in '89 there was an original LP RELEASE for Paul's Boutique when it dropped... thanks for trying though
