We would like to load MIDI sequences into the MPC1000 that contain sysex codes that control outboard effects units (delay, harmonizer, etc) in a live show environment. We would like to have one track play a click for our drummer, the other goes out to the house-PA for samples.

At certain points in the sequence, we want the MPC1000 to send out a sysex code to the harmonizer and tell it to bypass or un-bypass.

We can get the sysex codes necessary, we just don't know if we'll be able to load them into the MPC1000...any ideas? Having a laptop or computer on stage is not an option (please don't suggest we use software) because we're concerned about stability (crashes, etc) and portability. Would there be a better unit than the MPC for this purpose?

Thanks!

the mpc1k can insert sysex on to a track, i saw it in there last night. you can put the sysex message at any point in a sequence (like, say 20 seconds into a sequence or whatever). you just go the step edit window, choose insert and pick sysex. it inserts it into the track and you can define the sysex message from there.

i think a 1k would be fine for the tasks yer talking about. the only iffy thing about it is that a few of us are having problems with the compact flash cards that the 1k uses as storage. not everyone is having the trouble, in fact with me anyway, i dont have issues with the 32MB card the 1k came with. its only the larger capacity 3rd party cards that are giving me trouble.

the issue is supposed to be fixed in the latest mpc1000 OS update, which i think just came out today or yesterday. we'll see about that one hehe :)
