What's up guy's? I was just checking out some old rap tapes I have from the early 90's (Black Sheep , 3rd Bass , Brand Nubian & The Geto boys in particular) The production work is so f---ing amazing!!! Any idea if any of the bands were using an MPC ? Also is there a list anywhere that names the famous rap acts that have used MPC's.....well let me know......SEEYA!!!

The getto boys didnt use one...They recorded there drums through plastic cups and strings into a broken cassette player. From upside down buckets for snares, sideways trash cans they kicked for kicks and broken pieces of plates where there hi hats. Sounded dope though. Classic Scarface.

Reel-2-reels and true analog boards account for a lot of that sound also .

I agree, this is indeed a major reason for the uniqueness of that sound.
