sequencing drum patterns

Do you turn on full level when you sequence your drum pattern or do you play velo sensitivity on???? Its just so hard to get a level sound to come out when I sequence my drums.

depends on what im trying to do. if you cut up a loop in recycle, then you kind of have to play it full level if you want to keep the original dynamics. if im just playing with individual samples, however, i'll do the kick and snare at full level and the hi hats and perc by just hitting the pads. remember, you can also adjust the velocity afterwards if it just needs to be a little louder.

Go full level then make edits in step mode (unless your trying to program ghost notes - )

Coming from the guy who bought 2 MPC 1000's. Hmmmm

infact it was 'shy' who stated that i only use Fruity and didnt even own an mpc, when i did.

today he posts up for advice on drums...so i thought he was acting like a pro before.

thats why i chucked Fruity back in his face.

Yah gotta use the velocity sensitivity, thats the whole point of the pads.!!

Just turn the velocity sensitivity down for the assigned sample... Its on full by default... that way differences in velocity will not be so prenounced in the volume..!!!

the shift timing thing aint too well.

iv'e figured out how to do it day one to be honest by trial and error.

but what i hated and kept on bringing up as a topic each time was the way you have to do it.

ime the type of person who likes thing to just work.

i like things that make your easier.

i just think akai messed up here...for the sake of saving a few Kb's in file space for thier so called memory reserves as mr mpc 3000 keeps mentioning.

ime sorry...but i dont agree.

akai call this new 1000 as an MPC, and then take away one of their best 'Groove Timing' features away...and instead you have to do it manually in Seq Edit...it bull.

by this time...you can easily forget the creative part of it by the time you go to move the snares 1 tick on the 1000.

You can always increase or decrease the velocity by a % amount in the main window too....

Madness I know what youre saying but when you play live its hard to do it level on with velocity on...... say like your first bar(the kicks) wont be the same level as your next bar(kick).... Yes I know you can step edit this but it would be nice to master playing drums almost level without step editing
