sup fellow 4k'ers.i just had a quick question.is there any way to do filter sweeps on the 4k that are like the filter on the 2000 and 2000xl.(ya know that gives it that "muffled" type of sound)i did it all the time on my old 2000xl and used the slider to change the filter....

thanks in advance.

Lowpass filter either 2 or 4 pole, you have several options to use like BBoy2005 said.

1)To control the part by qlink in receive page with cutoff or Filter Env 1, 2, or 4 and other settings etc.

2) To control the track like 2XL use pad control in send page set to cutoff.

3) Control the part also by qlink use qlink sequence making sure the qlink sequence button is on and set the sync timing and beat steps.

4) Control through the pad or individual note by program matrix with cutoff going into the Fil Env. Next set the controllor or EXT 1 as source and Fil Env as the destination. Or have a auto sweep by using LFO or LFO Depth as source and Cutoff as the destination and set the LFO to midi sync to the beats.

5)Download the ref manual but any sampler guide(like Reason NNT Sampler) explains how all samplers pretty much works the same.

It`s cool. If you want to control just the individual pad and not the program go to the send page change qlink to pad control, hit the pad and set to cutoff now it operates just like the 2xl.

With zone fliter on recieve you can layer four or more samples in zone and control the indiviual zone filter in real-time from the qlink control within the part as the sequence plays.

Check out the Newbie manual thread I bump on the possibilites you can do.

nice one man.
BUT...
it looks like i am having another problem, after i record my envelope sweeps, the 4k does not always put them where i want.at the beginning of every sequence it takes the rate back too 100 for a split second, then goes back to where i recorded the knob.(if ya know what i mean.)
am i doing something wrong or is this just my machine acting strange?

Just so you know, this is much different from the 2k because it doesn't really do "filter sweeps". 2k can't really "sweep" the filter during playback, only change the filter setting before its played (which can work ok for really short samples played in a row, but not on a full bar sample). One of many reasons why the 4Ks full featured sampler is superior to the others.

Same thing as him you have to stop the sequence before overdub.

Easily way is to set the loop button off in the main page.

man i tried that but its still doing it.its like for a split second on the loop around it plays with the filter all the way up,then goes to where i actually set it.is there a way in step edit i can fix this?

also i noticed that i need to reset the nob to 0 every time the sequence plays when i record or a new sequence starts.

so i tried this and it worked for the first sequence.then i tried it on the next one and its not responding to where i set the levels of the nob.

oh well,i give up.but thanks for trying guys.

I'm trying to make sure that I'm on the same page, is this the same thing when on the 2kxlse3 you set a pad to the note variation then you can move the slider up and down to get a different filter, velocity, etc etc effecr to the sound?
