Sample Sets for 80's/early 90's Industrial?

I know most of you do hip-hop, but I was wondering if anybody knew of some good sample sets available for purchase or download to be used for late 80's/early 90's industrial style tracks, like Skinny Puppy or Thrill Kill Kult?

I can't seem to find a really good kick that's simultaneously thick, punchy, and trashy. My group plays really fast-tempo postpunk/industrial stuff and I've got to find a kick that really punches past the distorted bass sounds we use.

have you tried samplin some ramones or vilolent femme's or any 80's punk type shlt and them eq it and add more to liven it up some to make it stand out.

i know if you use the filters on the mpc you can get some really nice sounding drums sometimes some may not think so but i love to work with what i got , make it work for you thats all. dont limit your imagination, think about how musicain's did it or even the producers did it be for comps where ever around, history will allways come around again.

If you have a cdj or the like, get some Fear Factory records and sample that kick. Super punchy. If need be just tweak it and get that grimey sound. People dont even know about the Fear Factory kicks..

fear factory drums (along with meshuggah and other tech metal bands)
always have super clicky attacks cause its all triggers and whatnot isnt it?
i never bothered to sample them cause they always just sound like a drum machine....

but in this case it's probalbly right up the alley of what dude was looking for.

hell, now that i think about it, sampling death metal bands who use triggers
isn't a bad idea either. the attacks on these kicks are ridiculous...

You are exactly right about these guys playing with triggers. Triggers are big with all the dudes playing super fast double bass. I've mad entire kicks off of Fear Factory, Brujera, Dimmu Borgir, etc. The drums are incredible. Most people that make hip hop stick with the usual stuff for drums sounds like library stuff and break records. I use them too but because I listen to a lot of different music I have more stuff at my disposal. A lot of hip hop heads cant listen to metal at all. I grew up on the sh!t so I have just as much love for metal as hip hop. You have to keep an open mind when sampling!!!!!! Anything can be flipped into a beat!!!!!!

i'm in the same boat as you.
i love hiphop like i love metal,thrash, death metal, punk rock, etc...
the more stuff you know about the better when it comes to sampling!

and thats funny you mentioned brujeria.
i haven't listened to that since high school!

nice to see another metalhead on the board.
most times people on here say they listen to metal they
end up mentioning linkin park or some dub ish and i usually
just move on to another topic disappointed.

There are a couple of skinny puppy sample collections out there put together by cEVIN himself They are both put out by ZERO-G the first is called SKINNED it has about 1200 samples on it many that the band used on LPs The second is called simply Skinny Puppy It also has some nice stuff but the first has more. Acid has a good industrial collection called Methods Of Mayhem There is 2 of those also and they have some great drum sounds on them also. The trick is Quick Attack with a small amount of Distortion on the Attack only and a Quick Gate to follow the decay. Then Compress . The gate must be fast to get that quick snapping thud. Look up Rhys Fulber he is the man that helpped shape the sound of industrial he's worked with only the best including FearFactory and Skinny Puppy. Yes , I was into Industrial for a long time and can produce the sh*t out of NOIZE.

also, at my music fest hoodstock (july 29th, onset MA) I have a metal band, a hardcore band, a rock band, and a rock/reggae fusion band all booked ready to go. Plus a bunch of hip hop, but like last year, ima start off with the rock and metal. Wake everyone up lol

You dudes heard "I" by Meshuggah? It's a crazy ass 20 some-odd minute long song. It's kind of hard to find the actual cd but I'm sure you could down load it. I just flipped that. I'll post a link to the beat soon. In the mean time check out that track!!!!!!
