you can buy this lead (the power connector) from CIMPLE spares in the UK. It is an OEM Akai part. It is very inexpensive.

Personally, for the sake of a few quid, id buy it. The twisted wire hacks just dont look clean inside an expensive machine.

Twisted cap at the end, works perfectly. No matter how it looks.

how often are you staring at the INSIDE of yer mpc anyway? if there is something going on that you have to see inside the thing a lot, then i think there might be more problems than a twisty cap. ;]

unless of course its like a clear casing....how weird would that be?

of course, if you go the route i suggest - you will always have that spare lead in case you want/need to go back to a floppy

yep, I had to do that when I changed from 2kxl floppy to zip and I installed os 1.20. I coudlnt' get anything to work. I put the floppy back in and installed 1.14. now I'm with a cf reader and still with 1.14.

Dude, stop wasting time and call Nik and order them cables from VST. I ordered the power cable and data cable from them, not the whole kit. The power calbe was about $10.00 and the data cable was about $16.00. With the power cable you won't have to do any cutting or soderring, just plug it in a wahlah!
